HTP Programs Site

This website was a student project issued by British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). In a team which included two other designers, we created a website for the HTP Program at BCIT. The website was for potential employers and clients that wanted to work with HTP students. The site needed to have a easy to use UI and a simple navigation system.

Github was used in order to collaborate on the coding. HTML5, CSS3, PHP and Javascript were used to build the site. The website is also fully responsive.

Illustrator's Portfolio

Ricardo Sandoval is an Illustrator and needed a portfolio website to display his work. The website was to have a gallery, about and contact page. He also needed a page to display an upcoming graphic novel.

The website was created using Wordpress so that the client could update content when needed. I used a pre-existing theme and created a child theme from it. Website is fully responsive.

Mechanic's Business Page

This website was created for an international client based in the United Kingdom. The client had an outdated website and was in need of a redesign. I took the existing information and redistributed it onto a one page brochure style web page. This design was chosen so that the information regarding the mechanics business could be looked at quickly all in one place with minimum navigation. Calls to action were strategically placed throughout the page so that potential customers would have an easy time contacting the mechanic for work.

The website was created using Wordpress, a "child" theme was made in order to give a customized look to the site. A fully responsive design was implemented.

Cityscape Group

Web Page Design

Cityscape Group is a contracting company based in Vancouver. They were in the process of a company re-brand which included a new website. I was commissioned to design their new website. Content was given to me by the client which included a description of the company, an about section, service section, and a gallery.

The website was to be used as a type of brochure in order to attract clients. I decided a one page site would work best so that potential clients would not have to navigate too much in order to see the content, and they could gather information about the company quickly and efficiently.

The design was mocked up using Adobe Illustrator. I used motifs and colours from their new logo throughout the web page in order to stay consistent with their new branding image.

Cipher Code

Branding

Business card and Logo project done for a local web developer. The client wanted a clean modern style logo and chose the colour scheme themselves. After providing three roughs the final logo was chosen upon.

The logo is inspired by the hyperlink symbol and I thought it would be a clever tie in to the clients profession in web development. Everything was created using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Argenta Painting

Branding

Argenta Painting is a Vancouver based contracting company that do painting, drywalling and carpentry work. I was approached by them at the time of the companies inception in order to create a branding image for their company. The commission included a logo, business cards and a letterhead

I met with the client and was given a brief description of their company and a general direction of how they wanted the logo to look like. The companies name "Argenta" is silver in Spanish and I was also told that they wanted to attract residential and commercial clients alike. Therefore I was told the colours silver were to be used, aswell as red and black. They also wanted the image of a house and commercial building in the logo.

After providing three roughs the final logo was decided on. From there, I created the business cards and letterhead. The logo and business cards were created using Adobe Illustrator and the letterhead using Adobe Indesign.

Over the Moon

Package Design

Personal pacakging design project. The inital design was done while at Emily Carr. Recently I have started teaching myself 3D rendering and sculpting. I thought it would be a great opportunity to take this design and display it onto a 3D milk carton instead of just a plain old photoshopped image.

The design was created on Adobe Illustrator. This was then brought into Blender where I had created a 3D model of a milk carton. I then made a render of the cartons in a suitable environment using an HDRI. I also created a swing animation displaying the whole design in a 3D space.

Gold's Gym

Brand Redesign Project

This logo was created as part of Re-branding project while attending British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and Emily Carr University.

We were given a local company and had to redesign the entire brand image starting with the logo. After many thumbnails and roughs I decided upon this one. The logo was created using Adobe Illustrator.

Bram Stoker's Dracula

Book Cover Illustration

The book cover was a personal project by me in order to practice Illustration and to experiment with AR technology. Bram stoker's Dracula has always been a favourite movie and book of mine, so I chose it for this particular project.

Many elements of the cover were hand drawn and then finished off in Photoshop and Illustrator. The idea of a book cover being able to be seen in 3D space seemed like an interesting concept to me. I kept this in mind when creating the overall design and made something that would project well using Augmented Reality using the app, Slide AR.

One-Eyed King

Character Design

During a mentorship with Peter Han I got to work on this character design. The concept for this character came to me when hearing the phrase, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king." I immediately got and image of my head of an interdimensional being that lived in a dark land and ruled over blind minions. The ruler had one eye that was either symbolic or literally an eye.

Peter helped me to flesh out the character more using industry practices. First starting with a mind map and then exploring thumbnails. We progressed from there to more refined drawings and then the final hero shot. Along the way I also did a 3D sculpted maquette of the King's head in order to give me some reference when posing his complexly shaped head. This was sculpted using Nomad Sculpt on and Ipad Pro. Drawings were made using Procreate and Photoshop.

Minnekhada Park

Environment Study

Illustration done of Minnekkhada park using Procreate on an Ipad Pro. Initial sketches were done on site and then transferred over onto the Ipad to be finished from home.

Minnekhada is a loval provincial park where I love to go hiking. There is one section of the trail were the roots of an old gnarled tree are entangled with the rocks on the trail. This little section has always given me vivid imagery of a fantasy, Lord of the Rings inspired landscape.
